Ogden City Water

The Ogden City Water Utility would like to update its customers regarding the safety and reliability of the city’s water supply and of the ability to make payment arrangements if needed.

Safety and Reliability of Water Supply

The water delivered to your home or business is safe for use, including cooking, drinking, bathing and hand washing. This applies to conditions associated with both the COVID-19 virus and the March 18, 2020, earthquake.

All Ogden City culinary water supplies comply with federal and state water quality requirements for disinfection. This means that the water delivered to your home or business has been treated with chlorine to remove or kill pathogens, including all types of viruses, before they reach your tap. Both the EPA and the Utah Department of Drinking Water have stated that the COVID-19 virus is particularly susceptible to disinfection and standard water treatment procedures. There is no need for you to take any additional treatment actions, such as boiling water, before it is used.

The city’s facilities are constantly monitored by qualified operators. All major water system infrastructure has been inspected following this morning’s earthquake and there is no reason to believe that the water supply will be interrupted as a result of either the earthquake or the COVID-19 virus.

The water supply produced by Ogden City is regularly sampled and tested to ensure the highest quality. There is no need for you to store drinking water or purchase bottled water in response to the current COVID-19 virus. Customers who have specific questions about the city’s treatment procedures may contact the water utility at 801-629-8321.

Payment Arrangements

Ogden City is also aware that some customers may see an interruption in their level of income due to the effects of COVID-19. Ogden City has several different payment options it offers to its customers, including an equal payment program, that can help with budgeting. If you believe you cannot pay your Ogden City utility bill, please contact the billing department at (801) 629-8321 to discuss payment arrangements. Ogden City will not shut off water service to customers who make and keep payment arrangements on unpaid bills. Although payment arrangements will provide temporary relief during the period that the COVID-19 virus is deemed an emergency, customers will be required to pay in full for all water used on the account within a reasonable time after the emergency passes.

To reduce in-person transactions, Ogden City Water would like to remind customers that payment drop boxes are available at the Ogden City municipal building parking lot or outside of the water utility building at 133 W 29th Street and you may continue to make payments online through the website (www.ogdenwater.com)and over the phone or by calling (801) 629-8325.

Water System

Ogden City Water division is responsible for an intricate water system. With over 395 miles of water mains, reservoirs, wells and pressure regulation systems and over 24,000 water meters; our crews work diligently to keep the system in good working order.

Storage Capacity

In the last few years new reservoirs were added to increase water storage capacity. Recent bonds have replaced or repaired major infrastructure such as tanks, transmission lines, wells and pumps. Our pressure regulation system was updated and new pressure regulation valves installed. This new infrastructure, coupled with the expertise and skill of our system operators has brought our water utility to a level of excellence recognized throughout the state.

Master Plan

Ogden City has a Culinary Water Master Plan that was adopted in 2012. This plan assesses the water system and identifies and ranks areas for replacement or repair. The plan assists Ogden Water to be efficient and cost effective when planning upgrades and maintenance of our system.
